Goodbye to FOCUS as we knew it

After 53 years of publication as a printed document and then an electronic newsletter, we are migrating FOCUS to a blog format. This was not an easy decision, in part because we know some readers prefer an "all the news in one" publication, and in part because tradition matters at Texas A&M University. We resisted this change for several years but now must adapt to the times. The primary advantage of moving to a blog is that each author can post articles as needed to address current production challenges rather than have to wait for a scheduled edition to appear. This allows faster dissemination of information and we reluctantly say goodbye to FOCUS as a comprehensive newsletter. With this change comes the elimination of the need for an editor. I would like to thank Jim Leser, David Kerns and Apurba Barman who have served with me as co-editors over the last 16 years.  Pat Porter

FOCUS on Entomology, September 2nd, 1977 from Jim Leser and Pat Morrison. Articles were written on yellow tablets and given to a secretary to type on an IBM Selectric typewriter. They were then copied on an early photocopier, folded by hand and stamped to be put in the US Mail.
